Thank you

for the sympathy, I would be lying to say I am feeling better - just can't believe how much it is hanging about. Paul is still suffering and he has had it for a week longer than me!

Good news today though - I managed to sell 16 cards at the Ampthill Farmers Market. Well when I say 'I' - I wasn't actually there selling the stall was manned by others - which made it even more fun.:) So when I feel bit better I will have to replenish my stock a bit. The rubber stamped cards did well - so that is exciting too!

I did make this card last weekend with a stamp that Sue lent me - it was for the boss at work. what a cute bee he is!

Still suffering with this cold - and I am fed up! Not doing much at all to report - no energy to make anything I am afraid, last weeks cake has all gone and Owen wants another. He says it is really nice taking homemade cakes to school. Oh well he is not at school next week - although he is still going to need a packed lunch for 'Game Academy' that Alameda Middle School run most holidays. They do 3 different sports a day with the last day being some sort of 'finale'. Owen loves it.

The good news is that I have just had a brand new Creative Zen delivered....but no energy to even try it yet!

Well this week the house has been like a Doctors waiting room. Owen has been very poorly all week with a cold, it started with a high temperature and a cough, and has now continued with the cough and a runny nose....Paul stayed at home to look after him on Monday...and now has it. He feels really rough but has gone into work for meetings - thus infecting them all there too! But hey let's hope it is man flu - atm I only have a sore throat and no other symptons!

Yesterday I baked a cake:
Carrot and Fruit Cake
Put all of this lot in a saucepan (or I do a bowl and pop in the microwave)
125g - 4oz soft brown sugar
6 tablespoons of clear honey (although I reckon set will do)
175g - 6oz of grated carrot
125g - 4oz seedless raisins
50g - 2oz chopped dates
3/4 teaspoon of ground nutmeg
125g - 4oz butter
150ml - ¼ pint water

and bring to the boil - then simmer for 5 mins, leave to cool

then add:
1 beaten egg
and then mix together thoroughly:
125g - 4oz wholemeal flour
125g - 4oz plain flour
2 teaspoons baking powder

I used all plain flour this time as I had not got any wholemeal, and it seemed OK.

put the mix in a 23cm (9inch) cake tin and bake for 55 - 60 mins - 180c/350f/gas mark 4

I made this one for Birmingham and I know the people that had it enjoyed it.

I went back to origami and made this quick card to boost the cards for men in the stock - it is always handy to have something like this in there. I used the inside of an envelope:

The weekend

Wow the week has gone by quickly somehow - well the weekend certainly has!

I sold 3 cards on the market on Thursday - so didn't rush out to spend the profits - but hey better than none. You will be pleased to know that the cookies are gradually disappearing will have to bake again!

We popped down to The Blackbirds in Flitwick for lunch on Saturday (early Mother's Day treat - it wasn't particularly exciting food. then we wnet to B&Q except the road was closed so we did a bit of a tour of the Bedfordshire conutryside to get there....needless to say when we got there they didn't have the things we wanted, so not a big successful day! tee hee

I did get some new stamps a couple of weeks ago but there was a small fault on them so had to send them back - they didn't take long to come back - but I have only just got round to playing with them - the flip flops are part of the set.

I have launched the next rubber stamping challenge on the forum - using tags. Nick (Purplepenguin) suggested the theme and I hope you have fun playing, and find time to join in. Here is one I have made I have added more to the gallery.

The bag stamp was from pixiedust - I think I must have nearly all of her stamps now!

Today I made some cookies, I bought a book "The Great Big Cookie Book" - so I popped out and bought some porridge oats at 49p...and made these:

Chocolate Chip Oat Biscuits

115gm - 4oz butter or margarine
115gm - 4oz caster sugar
90gm - 3 ½oz soft brown sugar
1 egg
½ teaspoon vanilla Essence
115gm - 4oz Plain Flour
2.5ml - ½ teaspoon Bicarb of Soda
1.5ml - ¼ teaspoon Baking powder
pinch of salt
75gm - 3oz rolled oats
155gm - 6oz plain chocolate chips

Beat together the fat and sugar, add the egg until light and fluffy. Seive the flour, powder, soda and salt and add to the mix, slowly beat in. Stir in the rolled oats and choclate chips. I actually didn't have enough chips so added sultanas as I thoguht they were more healthy too! Put little teaspoon heaps on a baking sheet. I made 27 out of said it made 60 - but they would have been tiny! Mine came out about normal biscuit size.

Bake for 15 mins on preheated 180C/350F/Gas 4. Take out of oven and use a spatula to transfer to a baking sheet while still hot.

Mine have been tested and Owen said they were nice!

I met Sue for a lovely lunch in the Beefeater pub at Clophill. We brought our CJ's to look through and they are so much better in the flesh. She has also lent me some stamps and has challenged me to use them...they are certainly going to be a challenge - looking forward to spending some time playing.

Spring has sprung

Well what a fab day we had here - it was really beautiful and sunny, in fact t was so warm I had to go and change into my shorts. I dug over one of the vegetable patches ready to plant my potatoes, although I am not sure if the ground is warm enough for them - maybe next week it will be OK. I sowed some seeds - lettuce, radish and spring onion, although I have to say I have limited success with the spring onions here - I wonder if the pigeons have them.

This little chap came down and helped too, and posed for the camera....

Yesterday we popped down to the scout hut and helped clear out a lot of the junk to make way for some new equipment for camping. I think we could have thrown a lot of the old tents away....but they are still there. Apparently we were the only cub group that looked like something out of carry on camping a couple of year back....tee hee Big thanks to Waitrose that had a fund raising event and donated the money to the Scout group.

I have launched the latest Rubber stamping challenge...this week it is accessories...I hope that there are quite a few stampes out there featuring these, I used the template challenge for this one. Last weeks was a bit hard as many people didn't have food or drink stamps...thank you to all those that joined in I know everyone likes to look at all the designs.

I have taken a photo this time rather than scan - and I am not surewhich I prefer maybe I should take it with a flash rather than rely on natural light, I thought that it may give them a feeling of depth which the scanner fails to do.

Info on the CJ

Re the Pooh page...they are stamps that I have had for years, so no idea of the make as they are unmounted. But I stamped them with versamark and then used chalks to colour them. The writing is all on the stamp.

Been out to lunch again today...went out yesterday with the 'Mums' from school and went to the Tea shop in Ampthill - had a panini with Brie and bacon - I went to the White Hart in Maulden with Jane. Feel really full now....

I have been busy showing off the CJ - and everyone is fascinated with it as well as the concept...very proud of you all.

I made another card for the Food & Drink rubber stamp challenge - I have chosen a tricky subject this time so not many people have been able to join in.

Bargain Shoes

Just had to tell you that the 'shoe and 'sock' man had loads of shoes all at £4 on the Ampthill Market, held every Thursday. They are obviously limited to style and size - but he has a good selection including some Clarks shoes. I thought I would get a couple of pairs of cheap sandals for the summer...and here they are. Some are more of a bargain than others - so nip down there and grab yourself a bargain!

Second instalment

Well now that I know that Wendy has received her CJ so I thought I would show you my other two pages...

This one is for Wendy (AnnTaurus) - her subject was natures wonders, I thought that honey and bees were definitely Nature's wonders - and thanks to Sheilagh that sent me the die cuts:

This one was a little different for me and was Tracy's - Shabby Chic, I was a bit stuck on this but luckily Sue was able to lend me the rubber stamps - which seemed to fit the theme perfectly (I still have them oops). The paper is embossed paper from K & co and I have coloured it with chalk pads. Paper was from Sue too - what a star.....

I am off out to lunch will sort out the photos of mine later, I have taken them, so shouldn't take long.

CJ's have been exchanged

Well the day has come where we get our CJ back...mine is really fab and I am just so pleased with it. I will be showing it off to everyone in the coming weeks, and I will get some photos taken tomorrow and get it on the gallery. I thought I would give you a preview of some of the pages I did for other journals over the next couple of days, I know that one has not arrived yet so won't do that one are the first two..(you should be able to click through for larger pics)

CharlieCat had the theme of my Pet - but I didn't have a pet :( - the nearest I have is a cute cuddly child...and I decided that it is sometimes like having a pet...although he doesn't look like this where near as blonde!

The next is Carol's and her theme was Friends, I was last to do the page on this journal - so a lot of the ideas I had thought considered had been I decided to go with these pages..thanks to a bit of brainstorming with Mel and Em...thanks girls.

Here are all the little photos 'untucked!

and a couple are double sided!

I have to say I really enjoyed having the challenge of this - but have decided to sit out the next round...I need the rest tee hee.

This week I am going to be a lady that lunches and am seeing friends for the next couple of days....oh dear just as I was trying to be good in what I eat.....

Exciting eh?

Well how exciting has today been - I played a bit this morning in between changing beds and washing...and this afternoon we went up to the Bedford Interchange Retail Park....I know pretty exciting stuff!

I had decided new pillows were in order for us all and we were like the three bears...all choosing different thicknesses...Owen chose soft, I chose feather and Paul chose medium! tee hee - so we will all be nice and snuggly tonight!

I also bought a proper chair for sitting at the PC and will stop using a dining room chair, must admit my back has been sore from the back of the chair.

And that was the day gone really - well apart from buying Owen some new fab is he - still happy for £8.99 Umbro one - love it while it lasts!

I hope to get some crafting done, in the next few days. I have not played with my new toys yet!

Stamp Addicts

I met Clare (Kenspeckle) at Craft Addicts yesterday, we were in the shop fo an hour and half...I seem to spend a lot more than Clare....I bought a denami rubber stamp, a teeny tiny judikins stamp, a set of Printworks UM stamps and some new Twinkling H2Os, oh and of course the Mask as already talked about on the forum!

As yet I have not used any of them - but I am sure I will use them at the weekend, I had a card order and the CJ to get out of the way this week. They are all done now so I can look to play and replenish my card stocks, and hopefully think of a new rubber stamping challenge for the weekend. I have turned into a spendaholic and actually have a couple of stamps that I still have no used that I got last week!

One item Clare spotted in Stamp Addicts that was quite a shock was some sandpaper about 4 pieces 3 inches square for £ people really get taken in by that? You can get a huge pack in Poundland...and I will elt you work out how much it is!

Any way I have gone off at a tangent - back to once we had made our purchses we went to Frosts Garden Centre for lunch - it was the nearest place I could think of, especially as Clare had to drive back to Cambridge it was at leat heading her way. We had a lovely lunch and a natter.

On the way home I went to Waitrose to get stir fry veg for tea and I bumped into someone (Sally) that I had not seen for years - and we have vowed that we will definitely get together for lunch in the next couple of weeks, so that will be nice.

I had a quick go at the template today, very simple but hopefully OK. The card looks two different colours - I guess it wuld be better taking a photo but it is a bit dark atm!
