mini Christmas tree bags

Thought I would just do a quick share of these little bags I just made to hang on the Christmas tree, can't decide if I should bling them up a bit.

What do you think.

Denim bag - sorry I know another!

I bought a pair of shorts from a charity shop a few weeks again, they have been sitting washed and ready to go for some time, and I finally got around to finishing one half of them yesterday.

I tried out one of the stitches on the machine as well as doing a button hole - which on this machine is a joy as you just pop the button on the holder and it does it all for you, no measuring, marking - or generally faffing about.  I don't think you can see the stitches as they are on the flap, and didn't take one from the right angle.

Walked into Ampthill to visit the craft fair at the White Hart and also the Food fair at Parkside Hall.  Embarassed to say I didn't buy anything apart from a loaf of bread from Jo's loaves.  I bought a Goats Cheese making kit for other halves birthday pressie, so had gone to get Goats milk for it, and thought the loaf would go with it!  At the moment the cheese is not made, so have frozen the bread!

Some interesting food at the fair, but just nothing I needed or wanted this week.  Craft fair was tiny but some nice things there, lovely little venue.

I did spend some time playing on the sewing machine, played with the zips I got a while back, making some little purses, have learnt where I went wrong and know for next time.  Will have to take some pics later.

Phone stand and more bean bags!

I made a phone stand a while back and realised I didn't put it on here.  It is a simple design and has rice to weight it down with normal 'toy' stuffing in the top half.

Having made the bean bags since, am more of a fan of the bean bags as you can put your tablet in various different positions and it also moulds itself to the surface it is on ie your lap, or the arm of the chair.

Tablet or book bean bag

I have had this in my to do list for a long time, and finally got around to buying some polystyrene beads.  It didn't take long to sew...took quite a long time fighting with the 'beans' to get them into the bag, they go everywhere...I am sure there is a better way to do it.

I made a funnel from card and used a glass jar pour in.  I kept a box by me to place the jar when not in use, keeping the mess to a minimum, I got there in the end, and am pleased with results,  you can rest ipad/tablet/ or book in any position, on your lap on the settee arm etc.

Needed to get the vacuum cleaner out, but wasn't too bad!

I have not made Christmas cards for a while, so thought I would give it a go this weekend, so have made a batch and that is me all done now :)

Here are a few of them, took the pictures a little late in the day, so quite orange and long shadows.

Buttons and Zips

On August bank holiday I decided to order some bits and pieces, for sewing as I was missing my regular shopping fix now that we have moved offices at work!
They were all from China and Hong Kong,  so took a little while to arrive.  I also ordered some magnetic clips, and other things to play with for closures.

Managed to find some more clips for holding fabric instead of pins, at a bargain price.
So here is some of the things I have had, these wooden buttons are lovely.

And a few more

I still have more to finish...but these are the last that I took pictures in the daylight at the weekend, another from the top of the cut offs, did wonder if I should have put something through the waistband.

And the one below is the front pocket, so a long bag, still can't decide if this will be popular, a crocheted flower included.

Jeans bags more

Here are a few more bags, I bought these cut off jeans, slightly thinner than some, at a charity shop as I was drawn to the pockets. so have added some interfacing to the larger ones.

I did have to join the fabric together to make the strap as I had no long pieces left, but once attached to the same fabric as the liner it all looks OK.

The first one is from the leg.

And this is a bit more of them, this was the top, that I used the front half and the back half, so there are front pockets and back pocket all included.  Played with one of the new clips that I got as a fun way to fasten.

So the last picture is the back with the extra paocket :)

Jeans bags

This pair of jeans of Owen's had lots of pockets,  and we, well Paul, managed to ruin them in the washing machine ages ago.  I kept hold onto them just in case.
Here are a side pocket and a back pocket,  transformed into 2 bags.  As there were so many pockets I struggled to find fabric for straps.  The check fabric is a good weight from the bargain roll in Dunelm Mill.

I crocheted the flower whilst in florida :) and thought it looked great with this fabric.

I have more to follow and more to finish.

Clophill scarecrow festival

Just posted about this on the country market blog, so thought I would share here too

Clophill is a village just down the road from Ampthill, it is a pretty village with a long road through and some interesting narrow lanes that go up quite a steep incline, every other year it has a open gardens and it also has a scarecrow festival (not sure if this is every other year too).

We popped along for a look at them today and here are some of my personal favourites, there were loads of them and so good, great fun, and got everyone out walking.

This first one I notice that the house is even partially painted, so much detail, with the two relaxing nearby.

Milton Keynes craft and vintage fair

Went to MK this morning to visit the fair, was most impressed with it, lots of interesting things to get, although I really couldn't think what I needed!  Noticed that there was someone selling bags made from jeans there.

I did find this little chap made by someone fairly local to MK, and her friend was also selling some lovely items that she had sewn, had a lovely chat to them.

So I have my very own pin dog now.

Owen's Jeans

This is a smaller bag that I made from the left overs of Owen's jeans.

I used the back pockets first, and then realised I messed it up and could have used the front pockets had I cut them better:

first one and second one here

I know for next time to cut past the seams so that there is some fabric that can be used to join rather than cutting up to the seams.

As I didn't have enough to make a strap I used the lining fabric to make handles by folding them in four, like on the little bags I have been

Of course I added a flower and a pocket inside, and then made a tissue pouch as well.  I struggled to get the machine to sew through the bits where the flowers are sewn so have hand sewn that bit and put flowers so that you can't see so obviously.

Pink fabric with jeans

This one is the other front pocket and has a great zipped pocket on the front that I put some pink ribbon through the zip pull. and the other bit is a pocket on the front too.

As it was a bit tricky to turn the top over, I decided to bring the liner out to the outside and then add the straps on the outside.

I cut off the press stud that was on another part of the jeans and added it as part of a closure at the top, lace is covering up bits and pieces :)

and of course pockets inside too.  I have had great fun making these has been a real challenge and took me a while to figure things out, but my kind of what next?

I have bought another pair of jeans with lots of studs on the pockets, but these are mush smaller and not as many pockets!
